Hi, this is another edition of “For Value Sake”. A weekly post, it contains a few articles, a book recommendation and a TED talk. These are the most impressionable resources I consumed during the week, and share them so you can reap some value as I did. The only goal is to add value. Cheers :)
WHY READING 100 BOOKS A YEAR WON’T MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
“I don’t want to read everything. I just want to read the 100 great books over and over again.”
Very good piece for people who are already “woke” enough to be reading a ton. I found it quite instructive. Let’s not rush through a book because we want to pile up numbers. Don’t just go through a book but let the book go through you. Read slowly and thoughtfully. Read the classics, very few ideas are new. But the problem most at times is not that we read too much too fast, its that we don’t read at all. sad :pensive:

HOW TO MAKE $1BN FROM A SINGLE
“Be impatient about profit, but patient about growth”
“Indomie” is a household name, the brand is owned by Tolaram Group. This article summarizes some points on how these foreigners from Asia that Dr Ola calls “Nimble Ninjas” come to Nigeria and build big businesses. Lesson: “Build longterm”.

WHAT KIDS NEED TO LEARN TO SUCCEED IN 2050
“If somebody describes the world of the mid-21st century to you and it doesn’t sound like science fiction, it is certainly false.”
Mennnn!!! Yuval is at it again. His book “Sapiens” was botherline mad. His trilogy Sapiens, Homo Deus and 21 Lessons for the 21st Century come highly recommended by Gates, Zuckerberg, Obama. Here, he writes a piece on how the future would look in the next 50 to 100 years. Most of the people reading this will be alive for another 50 years. Looking at how drastic technology has moved things in the last 2 decades the future is definitely going to be “not expected”.

TED TALK OF THE WEEK: WHAT’S YOUR TYPE — JEAN KUMMEROW
Jean talks about the components that make up the Meyers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) test. Explaining the 4 core components. One of the first things I do as I get to know someone either as a collaborator, friend or lover, I give them an MBTI test. No need reinventing the wheel, no matter how individually unique we think we are, our core personality traits have been well mapped and defined for hundredths of years by psychologists just like our bodies have been catalogued by biologists.
Let’s stop relating blindly, and treating people like they are like ourselves. Get the knowledge it helps, I promise 🙂
